Audi RS6 Avant Sounds Gnarly with Capristo Exhaust and OPF Delete

From the factory, the Audi RS6 Avant sounds pretty damn good. The 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 under its hood makes some angry noises, enough to get any enthusiast excited. However, in Europe, it’s more muted than it is here in the ‘States, due to the OPF exhaust particulate filters required by EU emissions regulations. To counter that, most European enthusiasts fit their cars with aftermarket exhausts, to wake up the noise. In this new video, we get to hear an Audi RS6 Avant with a Capristo exhaust and an OPF delete and it sounds gnarly.

Firstly, it’s extremely loud. Like, wake the neighborhood, deafen small children loud. But that’s to be expected — all aftermarket exhausts are crazy loud. What’s shocking is just how much it pops and bangs on throttle lift. It sounds like heavy machine gun fire whenever the driver lifts, to the point of actually being obnoxious.

To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of those pops and bangs. Flatulence isn’t a sexy sound. It’s funny at times but it’s not sonorous or endearing. It just sounds like noise. So this Capristo-equipped Audi RS6 Avant sounds silly. However, those pops and bangs are intentional, added with the exhaust and the engine tune that brings its power up to an astonishing 830 horsepower. That burble-tune on the exhaust can be tuned out of it and I wish that it had been. Audi’s 4.0 liter V8 sounds incredible when it’s allowed to breath and that’s all that should be done.

Having said that, if this customer likes their Audi RS6 Avant to sound gassy, then by all means — fart away. It certainly attracts a crowd, as evidenced by the literal crowd surround the car in this video. So many I’m just a cantankerous old man that doesn’t like what the new, hip kids are into.
