Both the Audi A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron Will Debut in 2022

Audi’s next two electric models will likely be making their debuts sometime next year. During a recent event in Los Angeles, an Audi representative told CNET’s Roadshow that the Audi A6 e-tron would debut in 2022 but go into production some time in 2023. While there’s no production date for the larger Q6 e-tron SUV, it’s also going to be debuting in 2022, according to the same spokesperson.

Both the Audi A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron will be based on the brand’s PPE architecture, which will be the larger electric platform used by Audi and Porsche moving forward. Smaller EVs, such as the Q4 e-tron, will continue to be built on VW Group’s MEB all-electric architecture.

When the Audi A6 e-tron debuts, it’s said to look a lot like the concept car we saw back at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier in the year. Audi claims that the concept car was very close to production-ready, in terms of design and it’s not hard to believe it. All of Audis recent electric cars have been almost identical to the concept cars on which they were based. The Audi e-tron SUV, e-tron GT, and Q4 e-tron all look so much like their concepts, it can actually be tricky to spot the differences without a close look.

No specs have been given on the Audi Q6 e-tron but the A6 e-tron Concept had some initial specs. It’s said to have two electric motors, making 469 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Those are similar figures to the standard e-tron GT but they’ll be in a smaller, hopefully lighter package. Given the numerically similar names, it’s likely that the Q6 e-tron comes with the same specs as-standard.

We look forward to see these new cars next year. The Audi A6 e-tron Concept is a great looking sedan and one that should pack some impressive performance. Hopefully the Q6 e-tron can do the same.
