Daniel Abt and his family’s company, ABT Tuning, recently tuned an Audi RS6 Avant to make an absurd amount of power. It makes a whopping 730 horsepower and 679 lb-ft of torque, to be exact. In more scientific terms, 730 horsepower is considered… a lot. It’s also a lot more than the BMW M5 CS’ 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Is that enough to take down the mighty Bimmer, though? In this new video, we get to see that exact race.
Off the line, the ABT-tuned Audi RS6-R jumped ahead of the M5 CS with ease. Its Quattro all-wheel drive grip and mega torque allowed it to rocket off the line and gain an early lead. However, around halfway through the race, the M5 CS actually caught up. Not only did it catch up, it actually overtook the Audi just in time to win.
In defense of the BMW, the weather seemed to be rather wet and, despite having all-wheel drive, the M5 isn’t exactly known for its clean launches in the wet.
That’s right, somehow, the much less powerful BMW M5 CS beat the ABT-tuned, 730 horsepower Audi RS6-R and I’m not quite sure how. They end up running a few races, and it’s worth watching all of them, as they shed some insight onto just how fast both cars are.
This race was also only in a straight-line. The BMW M5 CS would likely be even quicker around a circuit, where it’s track-designed chassis and handling capability would give it an advantage. We’re also wondering if the M5 CS actually makes more power than claimed. BWM only claims 626 horsepower but it seems to be so much more than that, as evidenced by this video.
So if you’re looking for a tuned for your Audi RS6 Avant, the folks at ABT Sportsline should hook you up.
