Check Out the B7 Audi RS4 on Auditography

As good as this current generation of Audi A4/S4/RS4 is, the high-water mark of the entire A4 history is likely the B7 Audi RS4. It had everything going for it; it had the looks, it was the right size, used a brilliant engine, sounded incredible, and handled with the best sport sedans in the business. When it comes to genuine performance sedans, we’re not sure Audi has been able to best the B7 RS4 since.

In this new video from Auditography, we get to take a look at his own B7 Audi RS4 and we’re not jealous at all. Nope. Not one bit.

This particular B7 Audi RS4 is a sedan and not an Avant, though a five-door Avant was available at the time. It’s painted in the highly desirable Sprint Blue, which is honestly the best color for the B7 RS4. While it looks stock, it has a couple of key modifications that perfect an already fantastic package.

For starters, it sports H&R lowering springs, to give it a better stance and help it handle better than stock. It also gets a Milltek exhaust with Milltek downpipes, which makes the already brilliant sounding engine sound even better.

Speaking of its engine, the B7 Audi RS4 used a 4.2 liter naturally-aspirated V8, making 420 horsepower and revving to over 8,000 rpm. It’s essentially the same engine used in the first-gen Audi R8, except in the RS4 it powers a four-door sedan that can seat five. The only real issue with the engine is the fact that its timing chain tensioners can fail at around 100,000 miles and grenade the engine. So owners must be vigilant and replace the tensioners well before it’s time for them to fail. It’s an expensive job to have done but one that’s worth owning such a special machine. Especially after you hear it rev past eight grand with a Milltek exhaust…
