Audi SQ7 Gets the Carwow Review Treatment

[ad_1]

I recently had the chance to test drive an Audi SQ7 and came away so impressed that it frustrated me, as it actually made me really want a big SUV. Dammit, Audi. It’s fast, spacious, comfortable, and it handles remarkably well. But enough of what we think, what does Carwow think?

In this new video, Carwow’s Mat Watson tests out the Audi SQ7 to see if it’s worth getting over other diesel powered models or other performance SUVs.

The Audi SQ7 does make a good case for itself. Its 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 makes 500 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, so its surprisingly quick. In fact, Watson tests its 0-60 mph time and records a shocking 3.87 seconds, which is seriously fast for such a large, seven-seat SUV. It’s not as fast as something like the BMW X5 M or Lamborghini Urus but it’s still more than fast enough.

It also handles far better than you’d expect from something of its size. The Audi SQ7 gets air suspension as-standard, as well as active anti-roll bars, and rear-wheel steering. So it’s far more capable than you might think and surprisingly fun to drive, even if it isn’t outright exciting.

However, it’s not perfect. It’s still very expensive but it doesn’t look particularly exciting, which is important in the segment it competes in. It’s also not practical enough to justify getting it over its far more stylish SQ8 sibling.

In the end, Watson says you should consider the Audi SQ7 if you’re in the market for a big SUV, which is a fair assessment. The SQ7 is a great overall package but we’d agree that the Audi SQ8 is even more desirable, for around the same money, and really only loses the SQ7’s third row, which can barely fit humans anyway. Though, if you do want a performance SUV and need as many seats as possible, it’s hard to beat the SQ7.
