Audi Gets Increased Alexa Functionality and User Profiles

[ad_1]

For the 2022 model year, all Audi vehicles with the new MIB 3 infotainment system will be getting some updates, most notably to user profiles and Alexa functionality.

Audi was one of the first automakers to integrate Amazon’s Alexa into its MMI infotainment system. To use it, you had to press a button on the steering wheel. Now, you just use the same “Alexa” wake up word as you do at home, making it far easier and more intuitive. So if you wan to turn your home lights on, adjust your thermostat, or even place an order, you can do it from your car just as easy as you do at home.

New user profile settings will also make life easier for customers. Using the MyAudi account, owners can set their own personalized settings, such as seating position, lighting, and mirrors, and have those settings transfer from car to car. That should make life easier for owners of multiple Audis.

Good news for Android users, too. Wireless Android Auto is now available, whereas previously only Apple CarPlay was wireless. As someone who almost exclusively uses wireless Apple CarPlay in all Audis I drive, I can personally say that Android users will be very happy about this news.

Audi e-tron owners get a bit of an update as well. Their cars now can find charging stations with greater levels of detail. Now, you can select between Level 2 AC chargers and Level 3 DC chargers with greater clarity, reducing any confusion or frustration.

All of these updates are available for Audis equipped with the latest MIB 3 MMI infotainment system, which include the Audi Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, e-tron, and e-tron Sportback. If you have the most recent iterations of those cars, you’re in luck, as you’ll be getting these features beginning this Summer.
