Audi e-tron GT Comes with Three Years of Free DC Fast Charging

One of the biggest feathers in the Audi e-tron GT’s cap is its ability to charge faster than almost all other EVs on the market. With a max charging speed of 270 kW, the e-tron GT can charge from 5-80 percent in just 22 minutes, providing another 180 miles of charge. Admittedly, you’ll have to find a compatible DC fast charger to take advantage of those speeds. Thankfully, though, if you buy an Audi e-tron GT, you’ll get three years of DC fast charging for free.

Using any Electrify America charging station, Audi e-tron GT owners will be able to take advantage of DC fast charging at those high speeds for free, for three years. At the moment, there are 800 Electrify America charging stations across the U.S. but the brand plans on increasing that number to 3,500 by the end of 2021. It’s still not as extensive as Tesla’s Supercharger network but it’s quite good.

Audi has also partnered with Qmerit to offer two in-home charging options. The first is a NEMA 14-50 outlet, on a dedicated 240V/50A circuit, installed in your home to use the 9.6 kW charger that comes with the car. Admittedly, the charger that comes with the car can also be used with your standard 120V outlet at home but it will charge much, much slower, at 1.2 kW.

The second option is to have a 9.6 kW Electrify America HomeStation charger installed at your home, for a more streamlined charging experience. Rather than park up, get the charger out of the car’s trunk, plug it into the wall, and then into the car, you just pull up, pull the charger off the wall and plug in. It charges at the same speed as the first option but it’s an easier experience. Both options are installed by licensed professionals.

While this offer is currently only for Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT customers, it will soon be offered to all electric and plug-in hybrid Audi customers.
