Audi e-tron SUV Reviewed by Top Gear

Audi launched the original e-tron SUV back in 2018. Since then, it’s launched several more models; the e-tron Sportback, e-tron GT, Q4 e-tron, and even the A6 e-tron Concept. With each new model, Audi made improvements to its EV powertrains and battery tech. So how does the original model stack up, now that we’ve seen so many improvements?

In this new video from Top Gear, we get to see the Audi e-tron SUV receive a compressive review. Everything gets evaluated; its design, interior, technology, performance, and capability. Is the Audi e-tron still worth buying?

Well, yes and no. The Audi e-tron is a great luxury SUV, that part has always been true. It looks great, with typical Audi SUV looks that aren’t too shouty about being an EV, it has a great cabin, it rides really well and it’s comfortable. However, it does lack the sort of range need to be a great electric vehicle. And while it can cruise the Autobahn like a proper German luxury car, it can’t do so for very long, as sustained 100-plus mph decimates its range.

It’s also not the most fun handling car. It’s not bad, and it will hang onto a corner surprisingly well given its weight, but it’s not exactly enjoyable. Something like an Audi SQ7 will be far more fun and enjoyable to drive, while still providing the same amount of interior space and comfort.

If you want a luxury SUV that’s also electric, but doesn’t should about being electric, the Audi e-tron is still a good option. However, if you’re looking for a great electric SUV, something that provides great range and electric tech, you might want to look elsewhere for now. Audi is working on a large electric SUV for the future but, until then, the Audi e-tron isn’t it.
