Audi e-tron Will Get a Facelift in 2022 — 373 Miles of Range

It’s strange to think that the Audi e-tron is already three years old. It seems like only yesterday Audi was beginning to unveil its first electric car but it was actually back in 2018. Since electric cars, like mobile phones, age incredibly quickly, as new technology gets better and better everyday, the three-year old Audi e-tron already seems quite ancient, especially next to its competitors. Thankfully, it’s going to be getting a major facelift next year, which will bring a boost to the e-tron’s biggest downfall — range.

According to this new report from Autocar, a major facelift for the Audi e-tron will come by the end of 2022 and will drastically improve its range. At the moment, the e-tron uses a 95 kWh battery pack that gives it around 220 miles of range (its rated at 249 miles in Europe) , which is far below its competitors from Tesla and BMW. However, this same report claims that the facelift will bump that range up to 373 miles (600 km).

That won’t be the only technical improvement to the Audi e-tron, though. While Autocar’s source at Audi declined to provide specifics, they did say that there will be significant changes made. “There will be a facelift for the e-tron SUV and the e-tron Sportback,” the high-ranking Audi official told Autocar. “They will both be significantly upgraded with a number of technical updates that will further increase their competitiveness.”

This is good news, as the Audi e-tron is a good looking, very luxurious SUV, it just lacks the range and power to be competitive with the Telsa Model X or new BMW iX. Giving it competitive range and power will make it a very attractive car for Audi customers that don’t want a flashy EV. If the facelifted Audi e-tron can deliver that sort of range, along with updated power, it will offer an attractive EV package in a conventional looking and feeling Audi SUV.
