Audi e-tron GT vs Mercedes-Benz EQS vs Porsche Taycan vs Tesla Model S

This big EV battle from Carwow is a sign that the future of the automobile is almost here. In this video, we get to see not one, not two, not even three, but four high-powered all-electric sedans from major automakers, going head-to-head-to-head-to-head in a quarter-mile drag race. The Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and the Tesla Model S take each other on to see which is fastest.

None of the four cars were their sportiest versions. The Audi e-tron GT was just the standard version, making 523 horsepower 472 lb-ft of torque. While the Mercedes-Benz EQS450+ is the lesser single-motor version, which only made 329 horsepower 418 lb-ft. The Porsche Taycan was the 4S model, not the Turbo, so it had 571 horsepower 479 lb-ft. Lastly, the Tesla Model S was in its 100D configuration, not the performance P100D, but it was still the most powerful at 605 horsepower 506 lb-ft.

So which one was fastest? Well, I don’t wanna spoil it for you but I can tell you which was wasn’t the fastest — the Mercedes. With the least amount of power and the most weight, there was just no way the Mercedes would do well in that test. It was dead last by a huge margin in every single test except braking, where it actually performed surprisingly well.

The Audi e-tron GT performed well, too. It typically lags behind its competition, in terms of outright performance, but it did really well in Carwow’s test. In fact, it might have been the most surprising car of the test. And it wasn’t even the high-performance Audi RS e-tron GT, either. Had that been the case, it might have performed even more impressively.

As much as enthusiasts fear the switch to EVs, the future looks bright for electric cars. Not only are they bonkers fast but they provide easily accessible speed that can be repeated over and over again.
